North Korean Prison Camps Growing

Amnesty International is reporting that through the examination of satellite imagery and reports of defectors they have determined the the size of North Korean concentration camps are growing.  The American Association for the Advancement of Science examined imagery from 2001 and current photos and have found that the Yodok prison camp and others in the provinces of South Pyongan, South Hamkyung and North Hamkyung are growing.  The camps houses political prisoners and their families accused of questioning the government.

In the camp about 40% of the prisoners die every year from malnutrition.  One escapee was reported as saying that he saw children fighting over corn found in cow fieces.  Torture has been reported, such as bamboo twigs under the finger nails.  One man described how is father was forced to watch his mother and brother be publicly executed.
